Using
“SubTime” is fairly simple ; ).
This tutorial assumes you have the “SubTime” bundle, and a
fair knowledge of MAX.
1
Open the file “matrix kick”
2
You will note that there are two paths (spines or nurbs) the
first, called “std path,” is the path for the standard camera, this
is the camera that will be used during standard time.
The second, called “sub path,” is the path that the “sub
cam” will follow during “SubTime.”
(surprised?)
3
Opening “SubTime” 1
Go to the utilities panel
(the
hammer) 2
MAXScript 3
SubTime Control should appear under utilities Open it. |
|
4
LMC “Pick Path” then pick the “sub path” |
|
LMC
“Pick Camera” then pick the “Standard Cam. |
|
5
You will note that the “sub Cam Target” is aligned with
the ”Standard Cam Target”.
Make the “sum Cam Target” the child of the ”Standard
Cam Target”. |
|
6
Go to the frame where you want SubTime to occur (frame 34
is a good choice.) in
the “path range” group
change the “start” to align the two cameras.
Failure to do this will result in a jerk when
“SubTime” starts and ends.
There are other buttons in this group,
“Lock” means that “End” is 100% above “Start”,
this is good so leave it ticked. |
|
7
In the “Subtime Setup” group you can set the length of
the “SubTime”, this is effectively the speed at which the
SubTime camera moves.
You can also set the frame during which SubTime occurs. |
|
8
The “Render Setup” group if you only want to render the
SubTime then uncheck the 2 “Render?” Boxes.
The “Animation range” spinners tell “SubTime” when
to start and stop rendering (these times are in standard MAX
frames.) We probably
want to render the whole thing so leave theses as they are.
We need to tell MAX where to save the file or files, click
“pick save file” and enter a name, if you are rendering to
numbered stills “SubTime” will create a folder of this name to
store the frames. |
|
NB
THESE SPINERS WILL GENERATE ERRORS IF THE TIME CONFIGERATION START AND
END TIMES ARE ALTERED ARFTER SUBTIME IS OPENED.
